Little Rock Wastewater Sewer Service Line Replacement Program
Little Rock Wastewater Sewer Service Line Replacement Program
| What is The Sewer Service Line Replacement Program? |
| The Sewer Service Line Replacement Program went into effect January 2, 2013 to aid eligible Little Rock domestic customers with the cost for total replacement of their sewer service line by reimbursing up to a maximum of $2,500.00. This Program is an ongoing effort to reduce inflow and infiltration that increases the cost of sanitary sewer collection and treatment as well as the customer’s monthly bill. |
Once the domestic customer has been made aware of the need for a total service line replacement by either their own investigation or are notified as a result of smoke testing by LRW, the domestic customer can then request a Sewer Service Line Replacement Program application from LRW. When LRW receives the application, LRW will make a site visit to determine if the domestic customer’s service line qualifies for this program. If it does, the next step is for the domestic customer or a licensed Master Plumber to obtain a permit and then begin the work. Once the work is completed, LRW will be called for the final inspection. If the work that was completed passes the LRW inspection, the domestic customer will then submit all invoices including plumbers invoice and LRW Permit Fees if applicable to LRW. LRW will then issue a reimbursement check back to the domestic customer for up to maximum of $2,500.00. To find out more about the Program Procedures, visit our website at www.lrwu.com/SSLRP.html or call 688-1426 |

CREST is an important program because it is a means of liaison between the communities and the FBI, helping the community to be able to identify the functions of the FBI.
Through this exchange, it will be easier to identify crime problems affecting communities, which greatly helps the Mexican community in Arkansas.
The topics that have been selected to cover during this CREST Program are:
• Violent Crimes
• Civil Rights
• Human trafficking
• The role of ICE within our community
• Recruitment and Hiring

KLRB will kick off 4th annual city wide clean up at Pettaway Park
Little Rock cleanup joins national efforts
an excerpt from Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
March 3, 2013
Keep Little Rock Beautiful will host its fourth annual city-wide cleanup March 9, 2013.
The nonprofit organization promotes litter pickup, recycling, city beautification and community improvement. The cleanup will take place in conjunction with similar events across the country in march for the Great American Cleanup, which involves an estimated 3 million volunteers throughout the nation.
Little Rock’s cleanup will kick off at 8 a.m. at Pettaway Park at East 21st and Commerce streets. Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola will issue a proclamation before volunteers get underway.
A recycling trailer will be located at the East Broadway Alert Center at 500 E. 21st St. for bottles and cans collected during the pickup.
The organization chose the Pettaway neighborhood as the large group project for the cleanup because of the effort residents have put into cleaning up the neighborhood and reclaiming it from its former reputation as a center of gang activity.
Neighborhoods all over Little Rock are encouraged to host and organize cleanup activities and can register their events with the Keep Little Rock Beautiful staff for help, supplies and T-shirts for volunteers. Last year, 38 groups registered cleanups.
Keep Little Rock Beautiful Kick Off at Pettaway Park, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 8:00am
TO: PETTAWAY RESIDENTS, CIVIC GROUPS AND CHURCH GROUPS
FROM: MAGGIE HAWKINS, FACILITATOR, EAST BROADWAY ALERT CENTER
We are looking forward to the March 9th clean-up which is being sponsored by the Keep Little Rock Beautiful Committee and if it was not for your willingness to assist with this endeavor as you did in previous years this event would not be possible. We are also asking all volunteers, civic groups and church groups to meet us in front of Pettaway Park on Saturday, March 9th in order to have the annual Kick off site in our area at 8:00 a.m.. Mayor Stodola will make the presentation in order for the event to start.
This year we are going to concentrate on Pettaway Park in cleaning it along with some of our other problematic spots. If you know of an issue that we should address during the clean-up please let me know. Since we have a shortage of rakes and other tools we would appreciate it if you could bring a rake or a shovel if you have one.
Here is the plan that was discussed for improving the appearance of the park during the upcoming March 9th City Wide Cleanup
1. Rake and bag all of the leaves and debris along the perimeter fence. Parks & Recreation will bring 6 leaf rakes.
2. Cut the vegetation and overgrowth along the perimeter fence and around the trees that are in need of this. Parks & Recreation will bring 4-limb loppers.
3. Rake the debris from the rocks that surround the playground equipment. Parks & Recreation will bring 2-garden rakes.
4. Limb up around a select number of trees that have low-hanging limbs that interfere with people walking about the park. Parks & Recreation will bring 1-manual pole pruner.
5. If time permits or a number of people bring their own leaf rakes, rake and bag as much of the park grounds as possible.
A box of KP 3858 Heavy-Duty black plastic bags be brought by Parks & Recreation to use for the leaves and debris.
Get a Home Security Survey and protect your home
City of Little Rock Community Oriented Policing Officer, Officer Charles Nellums is extending an invitation to residents who live within the East Broadway Alert Center jurisdiction (which includes the Pettaway Community) to receive a FREE Home Security Survey.
A Home Security Survey is a critical on-sight examination of a property to determine what the present security
status is, identify any deficiencies or excesses of security, determine what level of protection is needed, and make
recommendations to improve the overall security of the premises.
Officer Nellums will come to your home and provide a security survey to assist you in securing your home. If you are interested please contact Officer Charles Nellums directly at cnellums@littlerock.org and/or contact the Alert Center at 501.376.3406.
Community Oriented Policing Officer
Community Oriented Police (COPP) officers work out of the Neighborhood Alert Centers to develop a working relationship with neighbors for overall safety and crime reduction. The Little Rock Police Department implemented the program, originally consisting of nineteen (19) Police Officers assigned to intensified patrols in various neighborhoods throughout the City, in June 1992. These original patrols areas were selected on the basis of citizen requests for service concerning targeted offenses (drug, property crimes), crime statistics, the proximity of schools and recreational facilities, and the anticipated locations of Alert Centers. Depending upon the specific areas and the terrain, these Officers either walk, ride a bicycle, or ride a horse to accomplish their patrols. Officers on horseback are often assigned to parks or hilly areas of the City. The Bicycle Officers are often assigned to central portions of the City where the streets are flatter and there are fewer sidewalks. The foot patrols are assigned to neighborhoods much smaller in size where they can be visible and serve as a crime deterent.
Although Officers in the community policing program work substantially smaller beats, community oriented policing is not simply a “cop on a small beat” program. Instead, the smaller beats provide residents with the opportunity to get to know an Officer and for the Officer to meet neighbors and become aware of neighborhood issues and dynamics. The program fosters bonds between the citizens of the neighborhoods and the Police Officers who serve them, opens new channels of communications and understanding, and provides neighborhoods with an effective resource tool to assist in improvements in the physical appearance, safety and sense of security in the neighborhood. As community oriented policing is to be a pro-active approach to fighting crime and an attempt to get to the root causes of problems, COPP Officers are encouraged to actively participate in neighborhood activities and projects and to explore solutions to area problems beyond the traditional law enforcement framework.
